Haiti is a beautiful island in the Caribbean, but most of the world knows Haiti for the earthquakes, hurricanes, and political turmoil. Put aside those images and visit Haiti. Help Haiti rebuild in one of the best ways possible: Experience undiscovered adventures in Haiti and tell everyone about it!
In 2015, we set out to make Swim for Haiti into an annual event with a positive, sustainable impact for Haiti. In the midst of political unrest and strikes, we accomplished our goal: we had a fun, safe event that can grow to safely accommodate hundreds of participants from around the world. See photos from 2015 here.
In 2016, swimmers can participate at three levels: 1) the Full 7.7 km (4.8 mile) swim from Kyona Beach on the Côte des Arcadins to the beautiful Iles des Arcadins., 2) Half swim, starting halfway from the finish (3.8 km), or 3) the fun 1 km swim to finish on the island. Swimmers are supported by local fishermen who accompany each swimmer the entire length of the swim. Volunteers from SwimTrek help ensure that the event is safe and fun. We expect over 60 swimmers participating in 2016.
Join us on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Find out more here or sign up now. With your help, we can put both Haiti and the Côte des Arcadins firmly on the adventure tourism map while supporting another meaningful cause: a swim program to teach Haitian children the basics of swimming. You can donate to the swim or the swim program even if you don't swim or volunteer.
Sincerest thanks to Innovations S.A., our main sponsor for 2016, for their generous support of the event. And heartfelt thanks to Wahoo Bay Beach Resort, Marina Blue Haiti, Moulin Sur Mer Beach Resort, Ouanga Bay Beach Hotel, Hapag Lloyd, and Johnnie Walker as well as many of you who volunteered and donated to the cause.
